A Fundraising Success Story

October 18, 2012

Last week, Landmarks Orchestra was one of over 500 non-profits participating in the Boston Foundation’s Giving Common Challenge. The challenge was to raise as much money as possible in 36-hours beginning on October 10 at 8 a.m. Two lucky non-profits would be awarded $25,000 cash prizes and dozens of others would win smaller prizes along the way. Landmarks did not win the challenge outright but we are happy to report that over the course of that 36-hour period we raised more than $10,000 and won a $2,000 Power Hour Prize from The Boston Foundation.

These funds will be critical to our summer programming. An extra $10,000 could mean significant improvements to our Notes in the Neighborhoods concerts, more resources for Breaking Down Barriers, or it could offset the costs of one of Landmarks’ special appearances–like our recent performance at The Boys and Girls Club of Roxbury.

We’d like to thank everyone who participated in the Giving Common Challenge. It is because of your support that the Landmarks Orchestra is able to perform for FREE all over this wonderful city. If you missed the challenge, never fear! You can still help!

Visit our website to donate. If you attend our summer concerts it’s definitely worthwhile to join our Musical Chair Club, which entitles you to a free rental chair at every Hatch Shell performance for the 2013 season!
