Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month

September 19, 2012

For an entire month from September 15 – October 15, our nation will be celebrating the culture and history of Americans whose ancestors hailed from Spain, Mexico, Central and South America. It is called National Hispanic Heritage Month and will include all kinds of events across the country.

As part of our 2012 season and the Tito Puente Latin Music Series, Landmarks performed our own Latin music festival in conjunction with Alex Alvear y Amigos, aptly titled Fiesta sinfónica. The concert on July 19th was co-sponsored by IBA (Inquilinos Boricuas en Acción), and we were delighted with the outcome! The South End was bursting with lively music, dancing and high energy from the audience.

It is extremely important to us that we are involved with the Boston community in its entirety. We strive to show our appreciation for all types of music – both classical and non-classical. Our performance with y Amigos was an invaluable experience for Landmarks- it marked the beginning of our efforts to experiment with alternative kinds of musical events.

In honor of our wonderful collaboration and involvement with Hispanic community, we encourage everyone to attend an event hosted by Villa Victoria Center for the Arts this Saturday, September 22nd. The day will be filled with Latin music and dance performances, vast amounts of food and activities for all ages – completely free!

To learn more about the festivities, visit the event webpage or call 617-927-1707.
